Question
I have an 89 BMW 318 4 cylinder and its not getting fuel.  I replaced the fuel pump but that didnt work. Any ideas?  It turns over fine it just wont start.  There is no fuel in the lines even after replacing the pump.  Thanks

Answer
Mike,
I know you replaced the pump, but do you hear it actually working?  You should be able to hear a buzzing/whine sound when you listen closely.

If the pump is working, and you still have no fuel in the lines, then there is a pinched line or a blocked line.  I have never had this problem with all the mechanic work I've done.  Usually it's because the pump is not working, or the injectors are not allowing the fuel to spray out.

 Good luck,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
