BMW/95 525i won't start

Question
Hi Dan,
yesterday, I had my son wash my 95 525 with a garden hose. After
he finished, I started the car and drove it into the garage. This
morning, my wife tried to start the car with no luck. It cranks, tries
a couple of times to turn over but does not. Wondering what I could
check first that I'm guessing might have gotten wet?

thanks in advance,
Butch

Answer
This never a fun problem, sorry about your luck. If you pop the hood look at the air intake tube. See if there are any cracks or disconnected air lines that branch from it. It is possible that water just got into the intake. If it is trying to start but just not taking off it could be due to a quick start up, pull into the garage, shut off. If you only run it for a few seconds then shut it off it floods the spark plugs. If it if firing but not starting like it is flooded press the gas to the floor and crank like crazy. If it is just flooded it will probably catch then run like crap. If it does that rev it until it cleans up the shut it down and try again. Lets hope that works, if not let me know. Good luck.
