Question
hi. i have a 535i year of manufacture 5/86. i believe it is classified as a 1987 model. i need to buy some new rims for it, can you tell me what model my car is? is it an E30 or an E29 or something else? the wheels are 5 spoke. thanks so much.

Answer
Adam,
As long as you have 5-lug wheels (5 bolts holding the wheel on), you should be able to use most any BMW wheel.  The early 3-series (before 1992) had 4-lug wheels, so they wont work.
a 1987 5-series should be an E28, so you can do a search for "E28 wheels" and a ton should show up.
 Good luck,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
