BMW/BMW e30 power window relay not working

Question
Dear Josh,
On my 325e auto (i have swapped in a M20B25/Getrag 260 from a 325i) there seems to be another 5 point bosch relay for supply to the power windows which is not shown in the Bentley or Haynes diagrams. The supply from unloader relay K5 (black/white wire) goes to 30 on this relay (relay is at driver footwell). From the relay, 87 (gn/bu wire) takes it to the power window circuit breaker. I am getting voltage on 30 of this relay (so k5 is ok) and when I jump 30 and 87 the windows work and switches are lit.
However, the relay does not work. Would appreciate it if you could tell me how this relay is trigerred so I can check.
Thanks and regards,
Saleel

Answer
Saleel,
Have you checked the breaker that is above the radio?  If it's thrown it will not allow the windows to work.  Its the black button just above the radio that you can press in or out.  Make sure it's pressed in.

As far as the relays, I've never worked with the window system much, at least not tracing wires.  I have a feeling that this circuit breaker has something to do with it though.

 Good luck,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
