Question
-------------------------Thanks for the response.  A while ago, some soda was spilled on the console and the hazzard light was stuck, but that corrected itself after we cleaned it up.  Do you think this might be part of the problem? Thanks again...

HI. I have a 1997 BMW 740i that has an electrical problem. The dash instrument panel has gone bizerk, and the ABS light, service engine light, and many other lights have all come on.  The Fuses blow for the interior lights, and when replaced they blow right out again.  The speedometer is not working and the trip odometer does not work.  What can this be, and how much will it cost to repair?  We want to sell due to moving, but need to fix first.  Thanks.
Answer -
sounds like you have a short somewhere in the system. the fix is not expensive its the time in labor to find it.  Have u installed anything recently cdplayer alarm etc? I would also check that you dont have any scrap piece of metal in your cig. lighter. (like from a cellphone charger that broke etc.)

Worse case senario you have a bad wireing harness. Pretty expensive fix. I donno what to tell you. It will get pretty expensive.

Answer
Debi,
That would be exactly where I would start the investigation. It could be possible that you now have coorosion in the wires and this would cause your cheotic dashboard indicator light display.

Check the wires in that area, good luck.
