Question
Hi Josh,
Some time back the key started sticking jiggling it around seemed to do the trick. The problem has gotten worse and now unable to turn the key, so cannot unlock the steering, although I have managed to start the car with a screw driver. I have also tried air / lubricant / vibration / force to get the key to turn but no luck as yet. Sure it something with the ignition barrel. Wandering if you could tell me how you go about removing the ignition barrel from a 1992 BMW 316iM.

Thanks for any advice you may be able to offer.

Regards

Kevin

Answer
Kevin, I have no experience under the dash of an E36.  Check some links around like www.pelicanparts.com.  use google to do a search for "e36 ignition cylinder replacement"
That should yeild some good results.

Sorry I couldn't help with this.

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
