BMW/Check Engine Soon light

Question
I have a 2000 BMW 323i 58,0000 miles and the Check Engine Soon light came on. The next day the light did not turn on when I started my car but later on in the day it came back on when I started the car. Can you offer some advice as to if this could be an actual engine problem (which doesn't act or sound different then normal) or if this could be an electrical/computer problem.

Sincerely,
Jack

Answer
sounds to me like a bad o2 sensor... the only way to be sure is to get a diagnostics test on the car (BMW Dealer charges about 100 for it) but the check engine light comes on for a number of reasons, anything from a faulty oxygen sensor, to a lose gas cap, etc.

Hope this helps.

I can probably answer any BMW related service and installation question. I have done all sorts of installs on mine, and have replaced all of the major components. Let me know if you need any help.
