BMW/Electronic Panel and locked Code

Question
Howdy Josh- I just purchased a 1991 325i convertible BMW- I have a owners manual on the way, but cannot access radio, or any of the panel items under this system as they are locked with a code.  The car was purchased off an auction block, hence I have no history of last owner... Is there a way to universally override code and reset?

Answer
A.Mesa,
Unfortunately there is not a way to generically reset the codes.  You need your VIN number and the phone number to the local dealership.  You can call them and they will instruct you on the procedure(s), and should be able to give you the code based on your VIN.

 Good luck,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
