Question
will a e34 325 24v engine fit in my 325 e30, or can it be made to fit? thankyou, lauren x

Answer
Lauren,

There are a few things we should clear up first.  An E34 is a 5-series.  The E36 is a 3-series made from 1992-1998 (I'm assuming that's what your talking about).

The engine you are talking about is called the M50, and you want to replace the old M20 Engine in your car?  It has been done numerous times, and with pretty good results.  It's not a direct bolt-in though, modification has to be done.  If the engine is newer than 1996, you will have a few more issues added to the list.

 Good luck,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
