1987 325e, hi again. my issue now is with an erratic idle at a cold start between 700 to 1500- 1700 rpms for a couple of minutes and eventuallty lessens until the idle is steady , id say under a 2 minute time frame. also notice a slight hesitation at acceleration at timesbut not everytime i accelerate.i tested the icv it's ok, i will check for vaacum leaks and check the tps also , am i thinking like i should be thinking. thank you

Answer
Eddie,
I think you are on the right track, unfortunately there are too many variables to say it's one definate thing causing the problem.  You are going to have to use the trial and error method to fix this most likely.  Dont forget about the thermo-time sensor, that tells the ECU when the engine is up to temp.  It has been know to cause idle issues.

 Hope this helps,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
