BMW/getting fuel all the time

Question
Well it just wouldn't run while cranking.Person I bought it from got it to work.2 days later it wouldn't crank and strandad my daughter.I FINALLY GOT IT TO crank but had to keep giving it gas to run.It was like the pump was pumping all the time.It was all I could do to get it back to the person I bought it from.Oh its a 1985 318i 4 cyl.He's had it for 2 wks now but no luck.A friend of mine said a injector is dirty and the fuel is going in constantly.Does that sound right.My daughter is ready to scream.

It sounds like there are too many issues for me to help with at this time.
Most importantly, find out if there is spark? Then find out if there is Fuel? If both of them are there... the engine HAS to run.
So something is off.
