BMW/strange light

Question
I have a 1991 325i convertible with a light that comes on and no one can identify it. No one meaning BMW dealers in  Seattle or the local repair shops here. The light is identical to the turn signal light and is located between the service indicator lights and the fog light indicator. It will come on at different times. I drive for five miles and it comes on, and stays on. When I turn the car off after driving,  10, 15 minutes or longer, then turn the car back on it may be off. I could drive all day and it might not come on. It might not come on for a couple days but then it will mysteriously show up again. Can you help? Whats going on? Is it harmful, whats it mean? Thanks for your time and I hope to here from you soon.
Thanks again,
Don

Answer
Don, I'm not sure about this light myself.  I know the later model E30's had airbags in them, and it could be an airbag warning light.  I've never seen this light myself either...

If you can send me a picture, or describe the light a little better it may help (color, shape, design etc..)

 Thanks,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions related to the BMW e30. These are the cars produced from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertable) in the United states. I am more fluent with the six cylinder models, although few things changed for the 4 cylinder cars. I know most of the problematic areas of these cars, and have found ways to fix them.

Experience

I have owned six different E30's over the last 10 years. I do all my own work, and know about ever nut and bolt on these cars.
