Don,

I just recently purchased my first BMW off E-bay and have fixed several items but have the following questions:

1.) What pin should be shorted out on the diagnostic connector to reset the service indicator lights?
2.) After starting the car, the airbag light stays on for ~ 60 seconds, but then shuts off. Is this normal, or indicative of some problem?
3.) The instrument panel cluster will occasionally completely shut off. Is this some type of ground fault?, where is a good place to start checking for the ground fault?
4.) Now for the stupid question...what covers(engine) have to be removed in order to access the spark plugs? I removed both plastic covers (right/left), but they seem to just cover the fuel injectors and the ignition coils.

Thanks so much for your help,

Jim

Answer
Pin #7should be grounded,Checking all the body grounds should help with the cluster.Wires under the dash and at the battery(ground wires are brown)The air bag light is normal,if a faylt occurs the light will stay on.And as far as the plugs go you were there, they are under the coils
