Question
Recently purchased 1993 BMW 318i 4cyl. VIN #WBACA5312PFGO7715. Engine
has to be replaced. Found another 318i 4cyl on internet that says will work, but
it's from a 1995 BMW. What should I be concerned with? Electrical and
transmission hookup comes to mind or can this be done easily?

Answer
The biggest concern would probably the intake and the exhaust so you may want to get gaskets. Before the swap look over all parts especially any aluminum parts, I bought an engine and thought all was well, after I installed it I found that the oil pan had a small crack, this was due to the engine came out of a car that had a front end bump.Lots of work when I should have looked closer. So if the engines are the same just look over as much as you can.
