Question
I have a 1998 528I BMW.  The "Check Engine" light sometimes stay on for 2 days and then goes off.  It re-appears after a couple of days.  This is being going on for about a week and half now.  Your feedback is greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
You need to get your OBDII read, and it will tell you what it is.  You can go to the dealer and pay for it, or go to a lot of auto parts stores (Checker, AutoZone, etc.) and they will read it for you.

It probably will deal with something in the pollution control system, such as a vacuum leak or a failing O2 sensor.
