Question
My 2001 740il hasitate when I step on the gas especially at around 3000 rpm and will not shift unless I release my foot a little and it will not go beyond 160kmph (3000rpm)

Answer
First comments:  When you release your foot, doesn't the blood rush from your leg?  Second, why are you complaining that it won't go beyond 160,000 MPH?

(sorry)

OK.  My first two thoughts are (1) fuel being held back, and (2) vacuum leak.

If you haven't changed your fuel filter in a while, do it now.  A good injector cleaner may be worth it too.

You say both that it hesitates at 3000 rpm, and that it will not go beyond 3000 rpm.  Which is it?
