Question
Please help, I bought this BMW sold as seen and noticed a severe knocking noise whenever i accelerated or decelerated, i.e. the moment my foot applies pressure and when it releases. I also noticed that if i accelerated my car would vear slightly to the right, but when decelerating it would vear to the left. eventually the problem got worse and now my back wheels are at an extreme angle (toe out) and from what i can see underneath, on the left side, by where the trailing arm bolts up onto the underside of the body (or final drive unit) not sure, well that bolt with its bush and everything has come away. leaving quite a hole in the underside. it really is a lovely car and i would hate to have to get rid of it, as this is the only problem with the car. What can i do? Cheers, Russell

Answer
This is more serious that I would diagnose on-line.  Somethng has broken in your rear suspension/frame.  Not familiar enough with the details back there, but I would recommend a professional look at it.  Hopefully it's just a weld needed, or something straightforward.

Good luck!
