i own a 1990 525i. i bought a replacement bulb h1 55 watt. i can't figure out how to change it! i tried from under the car pulling the white connector off and the black cover but that's it. i cant figure out where to go next! thanks

Not sure about the '90 525, but on later ones, there is a "hinge" on the outside side of the light, and a clip on the inside (toward the center grill).  That clip can be disengaged by sticking a screwdriver though the grill by the foglight.

Again, I don't know this model, but check if there's something like this.
