BMW Repair - manual transmission oil change

Expert: John Kingery - 1/28/2008

Question
Hi, I want to change my standard transmission oil in my BMW 318i, 1997. I noticed it is controlled electronically, not like in my other automatic acura. Can you tell me in as much detail as possible how to do it, and if it is possible at home?
thank you

Answer
Just read through the Bentley manual on this procedure.

If you have ever changed transmission fluid, this is the same as most.  Nothing to watch for really, except to make sure to read the transmission fluid type on the side of the transmission, and refill accordingly.
