I have a bmw 540i, 1995. The top plastic or metalic part that get inserted into the hose is broken.Can it be replaced or do I have to by a new radiator?

I believe you are talking about the large top fitting, that goes into the a main radiator hose.

You must replace the radiator.

These failed frequently on the 540's and 740's, and BMW apparently lowered the purchase price of the radiators to help us consumers.

If you have a bit of DYI, it's not a difficult job.  Just be sure to do the thermostat, waterpump and belts while you're in there.
