hi
engine light comes on and off and interior smell of gas fumes sometimes. ANY IDEA WHAT THIS COULD BE? Some say might be canister? is this something I could replace myself? I have replaced minor parts with success from bmw forums. any help would be great. thanks a lot

Find out what the engine light is.  Get it diagnosed at an auto parts store.

If the light and fuel smell aren't tied together, remove the rear seat from your car.  The fuel pumps and sensors are mounted  on the top of the tank and accessible through holes under the seat.  Could be a fuel leak there.
