I recently bought a 1987 bmw 325is with 160k miles from a friend for 200.00, He changed the auto transmission fluid in it against his
mechanics advise, he told me that he drove it for about two weeks when
finally it wouldnt go in any other gear but reverse.  Do you think that
the transmission will have to either be rebuilt/replaced, and is it worth
it? How much damage do you think it did to the transmission.

You could cover your headlights with red film, and put in white taillights, and continue to drive it backwards.

Sorry, I know it's not a funny situation.

I would guess that the transmission would need a rebuild.  Likely cheaper to replace transmission with a used one.
