Question
I have a BMW 325 that has been sitting for about 8 months.  It had been running.  It need a new battery, that I replaced.  When I try to start it, I hear a sound coming from where the fuel filter is under the driver side door.  It is not quite a hissing, but more like a motor running.  The car does not crank or click or anything.

Answer
The noise you hear is your fuel pump. The year of the car makes me think its time for a filter change and time to look at all the grounds from the battery to the block, especially since you were just there was the ground to the block and to the body good?
