BMW Repair/Z3 battery

Question
Z3, 2001, 2.5L, with dead battery, probably original. Garaged all year, particularly winter, just under 30K miles so not driven enough.

Battery part number on dead battery #61 21 8 381 738. Bought replacement from local dealer today. When I got it home, found part #61 21 6 946 332.

Question: Was I sold the wrong battery? or has part number changed since 2001? Will this battery work properly in my Z3?

Answer
I don't have record of a 2.5L in 2001.  Is it something other than a US model?  Or is it a 2.8 or 3.0?

Anyhow, the number for your original battery shows it to have been used through most of the Z3 run.  The new battery is listed for Z4's.

They're both rated the same (70 Amp Hours), so if it fits, it's probably fine.
