Question
I have always changed my own oil. I recently purchased a 325ci conv., purchased the Castrol synthetic oil and filter. When I got under the car to change the oil I was a bit surprised. Doesn't look like most cars I have worked on. How do you change the oil and filter and are there any special tools required? Do you have to reset anything after the oil is changed. Your assistance is appreciated

Answer
You got the right oil.

Not positive on the 03 325, but most BMW's have canister oil filters that are accessed from the top of the car.  VERY easy.  Look for a canister with a large hex on the top.  Your manual will call it out.  No special tools.

There is a reset procedure.  you can either by a tool (do a web search), or check message boards like www.roadfly.com for simple instructions on which pins to connect for how long.
