BMW Repair - Replace brake rotors... No pads

Expert: Don Berlan - 10/1/2009

Question
I have a BMW 650 and want to change the front rotors.  The pads were replaced
by a mechinca a few weeks ago and he cut the rotors.... Now there is wheel shake when stopping.  My question is do I need to mess around with the brake pad sensor and rattle clip If I am just changing the rotors and not the pads???

Answer
One thing that is important is to make sure both front and rear rotors are flat. Many times even with new rotors they need to be machined. The majority of the rotors need to be resurfaced. You can reuse the pads just make sure you sand them flat with 36 grit paper.
