BMW Repair - Power steering pump.

Expert: Don Berlan - 11/6/2009

Question
Have a 2000 BMW 323CI series M52 engine. The car is hard to turn at low speed or when cornering or parking. Would the power steering pump be bad? The fluid level is OK. The pump doesn't make any noise either. Is there any why to tell if the pump is bad?

Answer
This seems to be the repair of the week.I actually am working on the same problem in my shop. The problem is the power steering pump.BMW has had some problems with the pump and it has been redesigned. The pump needs to be replaced.Make sure it is from BMW as their warrantee for 2 yrs and unlimited miles.
