Question
I have a bad transmission in my 2000 328i as it will not go in reverse.  I have access to a 2002 e46 transmission. Will it work in my car?

Answer
Although both cars are considered E46 they are different as the the years and probably the engine electronics.I did some checking with my manuals and 2000 was kind of a year by itself.2001 models had a 3.0 liter engine.Not having the ability to see if they are the same as the bolt pattern maybe different.The other issue is they are  electronically controlled that to could be different.Maybe the possibility of having a good transmission shop look at it maybe cheaper as well.A new transmission isn't cheap.
