BMW Repair - phone fell inside car's hood

Expert: John Kingery - 4/12/2009

Question
Hi John,

My cellphone accidentally fell inside the hood of my car and I can't get it out. Should I take it to the car shop? Can I still drive my car around though? At this point I don't care about my phone anymore. If the phone melts will it damage any parts of the car (especially the brake)?

Thanks!
John

Answer
If your cell phone falls into a BMW, it will automatically call Germany, and your bill will be high.

I'd get it out, just to keep it from hitting anything or melting onto something.  Not a big danger, but stopping by BMW or any shop and just having them remove it would be the safest.
