Question
hi there, i recently purchaced a second hand 1995 BMW 318i e36 model and i am have trouble opening the boot. since buying the car the central locking system is failing to open the boot but the key seems not to be able to turn in the trunk lock itslef.. i have tried pulling seats out but i am not sure where to start on the problem. i have a feeling that the electrics are preventing the key turning ing the lock but thought id seek higher assistance before continuing my mission ! please help ! Thank You

Answer
Electronics won't prevent the key from turning.  COnfirm with the seller that the lock and key are original.  Then try graphite powder in the lock to free it up.

Once open, check the condition of the wires by the hinge.  A lot of movement here can cause the wires to break.
