BMW Repair - driveshaft mounting bushing

Expert: Don Berlan - 9/8/2009

Question
how do i replace the driveshaft mounting bracket bushing as my 1984 bmw 528e has a very loud thump/bang on the floor board when you take off in 1st or any gear till the car gets rolling then the thump stops. thank you for your help

Answer
You first need to remove the exhaust, the exhaust shield then you can see the driveshaft. The center bearing is removed with a 13mm wrench. The front shaft are either 17-19mm.The nut that holds the two sections together needs to be loosened and make sure you mark it to make sure it is installed the same way it was removed.
