Question
i have a 1986 bmw 325 in line 6, it had sat for 4 to 5 yrs
and im in the process of fixing it so it can be my first
car, we have replaced alot on it so we can get it running
again, we changed oil, replaced gas line cuz in was busted
and have replaced the filters, when i get in to crank it it
will rev to abt 3000rpm and die, thats all it will do, the
plugs are good and were getting gas to it, anything else we
might have over looked?

Answer
If it will idle indefinitely but dies when you rev the engine, I'd look at the fuel filter or the pump.  Does it seem like not enough gas is getting to it?

Really tough to diagnose this on line.  Sounds like you are going the right way in your diagnosis.  Remember, it's just fuel, air, spark and the timing of all of them.
