BMW Repair/aux port DIY installation on 2004 BMW 325i sport

Question
Hi John,

I'm hoping you could help solve a little query.  I have a 2004 BMW 325i and I would like to install an aux port myself.  However, I have no idea how to remove the stereo to install the cable.  My car is already pre-wired for a CD changer and phone but I have neither in the car.  When I pulled out the cup holder I saw an array of wires.  Could one of these wires enable the aux installation without having to pull the stereo out?  I hope I'm making sense ... Thank you so much for the sound advice, I hope I'm not taking on something that's going to be bigger than I can chew :)

Have a great 4th!

Lauren

Answer
Check Crutchfield.com or some other automotive electroncs site.  Tapping into the wiring on a car like this is complex, so try to find some site that deals with it specifically.

Your best bet may be to install a different radio unit with an aux port.
