Question
Alright, so my 1984 318i that I just received has been
sitting up a couple months. I just started driving it
directly after purchasing it, until here recently. It will
crank and idle; but as soon as I put it into drive and start
taking off, about 50-100yards later it sputters and wants to
die on me. I could have my gas pedal to the floor and it
still tries to die. What do you figure I should do?

Answer
Having sat for any length of time is hard on a vehicle.Being also a new owner one needs to hope the prior owner was up to date on services.I would replace the fuel filter and check the the fuel pressure, check all tune up aspects(ie plugs, car.rotor)The throttle plate should be checked to make sure it is clean and adjusted to about .002.Valave adjustment too should be done.
