Question
I have a 1983 BMW 533i with a dead solenoid, and need to remove the starter to replace. The problem is, I can't seem to remove one bolt that is holding it in place. As far as I can tell, there are two bolts, both 17mm. The first one, on the driver side of the intake manifold, and below, was easy to remove, but the other is right under the manifold, and I can't get a wrench around the bolt even when I manage to get it in there. I was just wondering what you would do to remove this bolt, after that, i have the rest easily taken care of.

Answer
Taking a starter out of a 27 years old BMW is a difficult task. The bolts have been secure for a long time and the metals have oxidized as well. The bolt is attached with the same size as you are dealing with it just is going to take more patience.Trying getting to it from under the vehicle, you won't see much its more by "feel"
