Question
I have a 1999 5401 vin# WBADN6332XGM62201
I had my car in the air for a routine oil change, when I noticed the rubber boots around the shock absorbers were  broken. Maybe it's why I can feel absolutely every bump on the road. Is changing the shocks a job I can undertake and complete easily on my driveway?  Do I need any "special" tools? What do you suggest I do if you don't think I should attempt? I'm looking to save a dollar or two. Times are real hard at the moment with cash

Answer
Unfortunately it is not easily done in ones driveway.there are special tools required like a spring compressor. If you knew of someone that had one it would be a task that could be done. That is the hardest part of the job as the shocks(struts) need to have the spring and mounts removed and reused on the new struts.
