BMW Repair/740il edc shocks issue

Question
I just bought a 2001 740iL Sport with 70,000 miles.  I love the car and had my mechanic identify and fix a few issues before purchase.  However he also said the shocks "don't feel quite right" and said they will need replacing in 15- 20 thousand miles.  The dealer wouldn't deal with this issue.

The car is the Sport version with EDC shocks.  The EDC seems to work fine when engaged  but there is a "squishing" sound when I go over speed bumps (with and without EDC engaged).

Questions: Should I do anything now?  The EDC shocks are very expensive....should I save up to replace them or opt for the Bilsteins and give up the EDC feature.

Thanks much for your help

William

Answer
To replace the shocks with regular style units is quite costly. If they don't leak fluid(your power steering reservoir being low)I wouldn't replace them.If the reservoir is low remember it takes a different fluid Pentosine, and is quite costly at about $20 a liter
