1993 bmw 318is.  120k miles.   The check engine light will start coming on and blinking on and off.  The air conditioner will keep blowing but the air will get warm.  The odometer numbers and all other lights will start fluxuating bright and dim while driving.  Had this problem for months now.  Sometimes it is bad, but sometimes it will go away for weeks.  What's my problem?

Is it the "check" light or the "check engine" light?If it is the first one look at your panel to see which function is at fault.
The a/c probably needs a recharge.I believe you have an R134 sytem so you can go to the local parts store and purchase a can of a/c conditioner/sealer.
Checking connetions at the rear of your instrument panel for your dimming lights asthey may be dirty or loose.
