I wrote you last night about the air conditioning going out in my 1991 325i.  Was doing great, then wife took it shoppingm after a while felt warm water on her driving foot.  Then AC started blowing out warm air.  Then she went in the store, came out, it worked fine for 20 mins, then it started shooting warm out again.  Son took it to church today and AC wasn't working and on the way home, temp gauge was showing all the way in the red.  I am wondering if its a fan issue, such as the clutch?

Does the aux fan come on when you turn the a/c on?If not,it should.If it does check the air floew through the radiator and the condensor,they sometimes fill up with debris from the road.
As far as the fan clutch goes there should be a slight resistance when not running,it should not freewheel when running
