Don,

I have a 2000 BMW 323i.  Sometimes when I put the car in reverse it shakes and then dies.  This only happens when in reverse.  It starts though with know problem.  What would be the cause?  Please advise.  Thanks!

Automatic transmissions run different pressures while operating.The forward gears the pressure is less than the reverse gear which will cause the engine to work harder.This is normally not noticed in normal operation.Have you had the transmission serviced?Does the fliud look/smell bad?
