BMW Repair/Bavaria idle problem

Question
Hello,
I have 1970 BMW 2800 Bavaria. The car starts fine, but while I am driving, after it has warmed up, it tends to idle high. around 2000 rpm. It stays that way for a while. Every once and a while it will drop down to 1100 rpm. Do you know what could be the problem? Also, I smell fuel when I have the window rolled down.
BTW, it has Weber Carbs on the car.

Answer
You need to have your carbs tuned up.They probably aren't balanced with each other. There is a tool that you use to balance the carbs(you could use 2 vacuum gauges). The chokes also may need to be looked at.They excess smell of fuel should be addressed as well. The floats may be too high
