Question
1984 533i.  Will not start.  Lots of crank.
Car had sat for 3 months with very little gas in tank.   Ran great until I filled it up.
It has been running hot and this did cause some hestitancy and did stall.  NOw it wont start.
Purchased new fuel filter but- how do you install!?
Is there a fuel shut off?
do I have to take entire clamped filter and pump off?
thanks db

Answer
The fuel filter is located under the car near the fuel pump. You have to remove the bracket to remove and install the filter.
Make sure you have a good body ground, if the braided cable is green at all replace it, you need a good body ground for the fuel pump.
