BMW Repair/M3 turn signal failure

Question
Don,

I have an '02 M3.  One day, my turn signals don't work.  No lights, no clicking, nada.  I took it to a dealership and they're claiming this is going to cost $1,000 to fix!  Is this my only option?

From you experience, tell me that this isn't something plausible.  Right?

Many thanks,
Christina

Answer
I'm not sure what the problem would cost to repair. If it is the directioal switch I'm not sure what the cost of the switch is and what the labor rate at the dealership that you are going.Checking the power inpits to the switch are the first step I would do seeing if there is power in /out of the switch.
