Question
Hi Josh,
I have a crack in a aluminum 325e oil pan. The crack is about 1.25" in length.  Do you know if this can be repaired or should it be replaced.

Answer
Jeff,
This is a quite common issue, especially with lowered E30's.  Since you can find a good used one for pretty cheap (Ebay) I would probably replace it.  But if you cant find one, or find they are to expensive, any competent welder should be able to fix this easily.  Find a good machine shop, or welding service, and it should be pretty inexpensive to weld up.  It will have to be TIG welded though...

 Good luck,
 Josh

Expertise

I can answer questions relating to the BMW E30 3-series cars built from 1984-1991 (1992 for convertible) in the US. I know of the problematic areas in these cars and how to fix them. I know most parts of the car including: Electrical, Engine, Transmission, Differential, Suspension, etc...

Experience

I have owned 6 different E30's over the last 10+ years, and know almost every nut and bold on the cars.
