Experience I have been an ASE Master Mechanic for 25 years.I have worked in many dealearships although BMW's are my favorite.I now have my own shop, specializing in BMW's.I have autocrossed and even gotten into mud running with my 4x4.(I am NOT a teacher and don't claim to know everything about the cars I never see.I hope to help you with your repairs and do expect some knowledge on your side.)
Question My 1999 323I is losing coolant. I can find no pools but the loss of coolant is happening regularly. Would you recommend a radiator leak product available at auto parts places or is there a better method to fix this. The car is not over heating at all.
Thanks.
Answer If your using coolant at a regular pace there must be some signs some where.Even little drips out of the hose connections will cause your loosing coolant.Have they been checked for signs like a build up of calium looking deposits.Check also they water pump area it is a few years old and you might not see the loss of coolant until it totally gives out.
In short I would look more for the leak.Look everywhere for drops or build up.If it is built up on the hoses replace or clean them.I would NOT use a radiator leak product it will cause more problems later.
