BMW Repair/Runs for around 5mins then idles poorly unti it dies

Question
I recently purchased an 87 325i.  The can ran great, and made the 20mi trip home without much effort.  The next couple days everything was fine, until it suddenly started to sputter, lose power and then proceed to die.  Now every time it seems to go into closed loop it does the same thing.  Ive looked at other writeups of similar problems, and discovered that if I pull the plug to the AFM the car will idle, but die if you give it any gas.  I checked for vaccum leaks and there doesnt seem to be any.  Any idea what my problem could be?

Answer
It goes into closed loop and then dies? You must have a scann tool. That is good,it will be a good tool to use.The AFM being disconnected, its amazing that it runs at all.You need to check you fuel pressure as it must be dumpng fuel if it will run with the AFM disconnected.
