Question
I have a security system on my '91 318i that I don't want, it's more trouble than its worth. I think its factory but don't really know. I have 2 remotes with this system. I can lock and unlock doors (sometimes) with them but at other times you just hear a whining noise and nothing happens. At times the locks will lock and freeze down, you can't unlock them and it drains my battery. When I start the car I have to push the button on the remote to allow it to turn-over. The system is a nightmare and I don't want it. How can I disconnect it or at least bypass the whole thing?

Answer
I don't believe it is a factory system.Look under your dash panel on the driver side to see if there is module of something that doesn't look as if it was installed by BMW.Many times installers will use scotch lock connecters to attach the wires in the car.
