Question
1985 bmw 535i.  I just purchased this vehicle used.  Everything works fine except the backlight on the car computer quit after a couple of days.  It is still readable in sunlight, but not at all at night.  Is this easily fixed by owner?

Answer
By removing the instrument cluster(real easy 2 screws)unplugging the connecters on the back you can the see the I believe 2 screws on the computer, remove the computer and replace the bulb socket in the rear.Yes it is easy, being careful as it is,as you know,a BMW.
Another note:It is easier to remove the steering wheel first, although it can be done without removing it.The wheel too is rather easy, remove the center emblem and there is a nut to remove.Take notice(mark with a paint mark and scribe) where the wheel is so it won't be turned different than it started out to be.
Contact Bavarian Autosports 1-800-535-2002 for the bulbs.
