Had a similar problem on e46 M54 engine. After replacing lifters by dealer (twice !) the problem was getting even worse. Eventually diagnosed a seal in the oil pump. .  15 min job !

the BMW 4.4 engine is prone to valve trane noise when at normal operating temperature due to the variable cam timing system incorporated into the valve trane.

I recommend you ignore the noise for awhile to wait for a change in performance and noise. I doubt there will be a noticeable variation in the future.
