Question
hi don, i have a 1984 alpina c1 2.3  and i need to change the
waterpump. the shops here in japan want too much money. i am
mechanically inclined however i do not have instructions on how
to replace the pump, timing belt and tensioner. is this a straight
forward job or are there task that require an expert.  any advice
or tips ?

Answer
well by replacing the waterpump, the belt and tensioner will be addressed. It is pretty straight forward on how to do.Before removing the belt make sure your timing marks are lined up or there will be problems. From there its easily done.Make sure you ,when done, turn the motor over BY HAND to make sure all is lined up. If not the valves will bend
